Resident Electoral Commissioner in Imo Relocated

The Resident Electoral Commissioner for Imo State, Mrs Celine Okoh has been moved to Abuja, the Federal Capital just 48 hours before the rescheduled National Assembly election.

INEC’s Head of Operations in the State, Emmanuel Owete has also been redeployed.

Re-deployment of staff is a normal administrative procedure within INEC; but Mrs Okoh has been at the receiving end of complaints by some opposition political parties in the State who have been accusing her of bias.

Imo is one of the few States in the country where voting materials for the National Assembly elections have been found in the possession of unauthorized people.
