Ondo Politicians Accused of Buying Voters' Cards for 5000 Naira

Ondo politicians are being accused of trying to buy voters’ cards, in a desperate bid to manipulate the voting process in their favour.

The voters are reported to be selling their cards for 5000 Naira each.

According to reports, the intention of the riggers is to try and stop voters in areas, where their opponents are strong from going to the polls, rather than an attempt to use them for multiple voting.

The Ondo State Information Commissioner, Ranti Akerele, said, “It has come to the notice of Ondo State Government that some unscrupulous individuals have been going about purchasing voter’s cards from the people.”

If one anonymous party member, who has admitted buying votes, is to be believed, this can be seen as good news.

He told our correspondent that they’d resorted to this maneouvre because other forms of rigging, such as ballot snatching, had been made more difficult.

All the Ondo party leaders contacted on the matter denied their parties’ involvement in vote-buying.
