Heightened Security on Eve of Voting in Kaduna State

Police in Kaduna will begin a major security crackdown after Friday prayers in preparation for the start of elections on Saturday

This, according to the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Haruna John, follows the discovery of plans to ferment election violence on Saturday.

Speaking at a joint news conference with the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr John said: “We want to beg and to plead with politicians, voters and the people of
Kaduna state to be law abiding throughout this exercise.”

The police chief went on to say: “We will not tolerate any act of incitement or any negative conduct by any person, no matter how highly placed.”
