Cautious Welcome for Batken Kindergarten

A new nursery school in southern Kyrgyzstan is offering innovative teaching to prepare children for school, but locals have taken their time to get used to it.

Ulukbu Amirova reports from the village of Samarkandek in the Batken region, where parents accept that their children’s learning has been accelerated, but say they cannot afford to pay the fees charged by the kindergarten.
