The growing influence of Islamism in Syria has found its way to the classrooms of Damascus's art faculty. Today, there are no professional life models for Syrian art students to draw. Some art students have found a way around the problem by drawing each other and some use books of classical art but the absence of life models means many lack the chance to master the human anatomy.
