“The Caucasus is the kind of place where, when the guns start firing, it's hard to stop them. That is the brutal reality of South Ossetia...,” writes IWPR Caucasus editor Thomas de Waal.

RFE"Our reporters are working in some very risky areas and are taking on some very edgy topics," said Jean MacKenzie, IWPR Afghan country director.
"Kazakhstan is the dominant state politically and economically in Central Asia and I predict that it will continue to be so for some time to come," says John MacLeod, senior editor at IWPR.
